Optimize your ShotKam’s battery life with this guide on best practices for charging, power-saving modes, and troubleshooting issues. Learn how to extend battery life on the Gen 4 and Gen 4 Mini for uninterrupted shooting in the field or at the range.
Charging Your ShotKam
Charge your ShotKam for at least 3 hours or overnight before going to the range. The ShotKam has an internal Real Time Clock to record the date and time, so there is a slow power drain even when not in use.
The ShotKam will shut OFF automatically when in Sleep Mode for over 2 hours. If you do not close the action, bump the gun, or take a shot for two hours, it will automatically shut off to conserve battery.
What is the expected battery life?
Clay Shooting:
- Gen 4 Mini: Lasts 4-5 hours, or about 150 recoils/shells on a full charge.
- Gen 4: Lasts 15 hours, or about 350 recoils/shells on a full charge.
Any shots taken within 5 seconds of each other will save on the same video. If you are shooting true or report pairs, they will save on one video. Example: If you are shooting pairs and use 200 shells, you will have 100 videos saved. Click here to learn how to operate the ShotKam at the clay target range.
Hunting:
- Gen 4 Mini: Lasts 5-6 hours, or about 100 recoils/ shells on a full charge.
- Gen 4: Lasts 12 hours, or about 225 recoils/ shells on a full charge.
Any shots taken within 9 seconds of each other will save on the same video. Example: If you load 3 cartridges and shoot a triple, they will all save on the same video. Click here to learn how to hunt with the ShotKam.
Constant Record Mode:
- Gen 4 Mini: Lasts 1 hour if recording a constant video.
- Gen 4: Lasts 2 hours if recording a constant video.
Constant WiFi Mode:
- Gen 4 Mini: Lasts 1 hour in constant WiFi Mode.
- Gen 4: Lasts 2 hours in constant WiFi Mode.
WiFi mode will drain the battery more quickly, so we recommend always shooting in “Normal Shooting Mode” (one green LED light). Only use WiFi Mode intermittently to download videos while in the field or at the range. Learn how to use the ShotKam mobile app here.
