Behind the Scenes: How ShotKam is Made
We build each camera at our main headquarters in Boca Raton, Florida. The process starts by machining aircraft-grade aluminum, then dying it black through a special electrochemical finishing process. Our team then assembles and inspects the internal components to ensure they meet ShotKam's top standards of performance.
Once built, each ShotKam is packaged and shipped directly from our Florida location, right to your home.

How To Use
Learn about operating temperature ranges for ShotKam Gen 3, Gen 4, and Gen 3 Mini. Get tips on using your ShotKam in extreme hot or cold conditions.
Gen 4 and Gen 4 Mini in Cold Weather
The Gen 4 and Gen 4 Mini will operate in temperatures between 14º Fahrenheit (-10º Celsius) and 104º F (40º C).
❄️ If shooting in temperatures below that, then waken the ShotKam from Sleep Mode every 10 minutes to heat up the electronics. When you see a solid green LED light, the camera is buffering video and ready to record. This process generates heat from the processor, so it keeps the battery warm. Either close the action or bump the gun every 10 minutes to keep the battery warm.
Using your ShotKam in very cold conditions will not harm battery life.
Gen 3 in Cold Weather
The Gen 3 will operate where the ambient temperature is between 38º Fahrenheit (3º Celsius) and 110º F (43º C). Using your ShotKam in very cold conditions will temporarily shorten battery life, cause the device to turn off, or cause inconsistent recordings. The battery is made of lithium-ion which is a liquid (same as iPhones), so it can freeze. Battery life will return to normal when you bring the device back to higher ambient temperatures, so there is no permanent damage with extreme cold weather.
Hot Weather:
Using a ShotKam Camera in very hot conditions above 110º F (43º C) can permanently shorten battery life. Don’t leave the device in your car because temperatures in parked cars can exceed this range.
Here's how ShotKam's patented technology records videos automatically. Learn about saving and accessing videos, and understand battery life.
How does ShotKam record?
The ShotKam Camera uses patented technology to measure the forces and movements of your barrel. By calculating the forces and the pull of gravity, it automatically knows when to save video.
If you take 25 shots at the range, then it will automatically save all 25 recoils onto the internal memory card (which holds 3,000 videos for the Gen 4 and Gen 4 Mini or 2,000 videos for the Gen 3). You do not need to be in WiFi Mode in order to record videos. It will save all videos whether it's in WiFi Mode or not.
To best understand how it works, here's a 2-minute demo:

Learn about the pellets or shot string in your ShotKam footage. Read tips and techniques for analyzing your shots.
Can I see the pellets?
Yes, you will be able to see the pellets for about 2-4 video frames. The pellets travel on average 3 feet per frame, so beyond 15 feet the pellets become smaller than a video pixel.
When you pull the trigger, you will see a few video frames of distortion as the gun powder explodes and the pellets move out of the barrel. Since the ShotKam records 100 frames per second, this happens in less than a fraction of a second. To view your videos frame-by-frame, please visit the following article: How to watch my videos in slow motion?
If missing a target and unsure of the lead required, the best option is to double the lead, then take another shot where you half the lead. Compare the two videos to imprint the correct site picture of which distance in front of the target is required for that target. We recommend studying your ShotKam footage before you take the shot to understand why you missed. Watch this video for tips on how to analyze and learn from your footage:
Learn how to stream video with ShotKam. Understand the importance of the slow-motion feature and proper video saving process.
Can I live stream video?
Yes, the ShotKam app can live stream video, but we do not recommend live-streaming.
A critical aspect of the ShotKam is that it automatically slows down the video into one-third speed. This is important because your brain perceives moving targets in 1/3rd speed, so in order for the video to appear as you saw the target, you must allow the saving process to finish. This slowing-down process is patented to ShotKam.
Allow the ShotKam 4-6 seconds to save the video (blue LED will stop blinking), then download it to your mobile device. You can also then use the frame-by-frame option to further analyze the video.

Tech Specs
Watch our latest video to get answers to your top questions about ShotKam and discover the key differences between the models:
What is ShotKam?
ShotKam is an advanced recording camera designed for your gun barrel. It automatically records each shot with pinpoint accuracy, showing where your barrel was aimed using a crosshair. The slow-motion playback replicates how your eye tracks a moving target, letting you review and improve your shooting technique.
You can instantly replay footage wirelessly on your mobile device (phone, iPad, or tablet) and see why a target was missed. The camera is self-editing, capturing only the critical moments of your shot. It slows the playback to 1/3 speed and maintains the same field-of-view as your eyes during the shot.
We now offer three models: the Gen 4 Mini, Gen 4, and Gen 3.
Introducing the Gen 4 Mini
The new Gen 4 Mini delivers all the benefits of the Gen 4 in a smaller, lighter form. Weighing just 148 grams, the Mini offers 4K video resolution, up to 6 hours of battery life, and includes custom mounts for various guns. It’s perfect for those looking for the same precision and performance, but with a more compact design.
ShotKam Gen 4 vs. Gen 4 Mini: What’s the Difference?
The ShotKam Gen 4 and Gen 4 Mini both deliver 4K video resolution, advanced WiFi connectivity, and incredible precision. The key difference is size and weight: the Gen 4 Mini is a compact, lightweight version at just 148 grams, perfect for those who prefer a smaller camera without sacrificing performance.
Both models feature up to 6 hours of battery life, but the Gen 4 offers longer usage (up to 15 hours), making it ideal for extended shooting sessions.
What’s included with each model?
Each ShotKam purchase includes a 12 Gauge quick-release mount, carrying case, and all charging accessories. The Gen 4 and Gen 4 Mini comes with 128 GB of memory for up to 3,000 videos, while the Gen 3 has 64 GB for 2,000 videos. Both models feature internal batteries, with the Gen 4 providing up to 15 hours of use in any weather condition.
Does it have WiFi?
Yes, each ShotKam model has built-in WiFi that connects directly to your mobile device, allowing you to review footage immediately in the field. No external data or WiFi source is needed. The ShotKam mobile app (available for iOS and Android) lets you customize camera settings, including device type, target type, video resolution, zoom, and more.

Yes, the ShotKam is fully weatherproof when the removable back cap is firmly screwed on. Be sure to keep your back cap on in all-weather situations, as this protects water from entering the USB port.
The ShotKam's IPX rating is IPX6.
ShotKam records shot sounds and plays videos at 33% speed to mimic target perception. Learn about audio capture and video playback features.
Is there sound in the video?
You will hear the "bang" of the shot, but you cannot speak into the camera. There is no recognizable audio aside for the actual shot.
The camera is designed to automatically slow down each video into one-third speed (33% playback speed). This is to replicate how your brain perceives a moving targets. When you replay the videos, you may hear yourself calling "Pull," but it will be in 33% playback speed and sound like a slow "pull." Most of the time, only the shot is recorded and sounds like a normal shot. Here's a YouTube video of clay shooting where you can hear the break-action "bang," then here's a trap video where you can hear the shooter call "pull."
The ShotKam saves 2 seconds pre-shot and 1 second post-shot when shooting clays, so if you call "pull" within 2 seconds of taking the shot, then you'll hear it in the video.

ShotKam vs. Tactacam vs. Tachyon
Watch our video below for a visual comparison between ShotKam, Tachyon, and Tactacam.
Like the ShotKam, the Tactacam is another camera designed for shooting. However, there are several key differences that make the ShotKam superior:
- The ShotKam has an internal accelerometer and gyroscope, so it can intelligently detect barrel movements and the pull of gravity. This enables the ShotKam to start recording when it feels the action of your gun close, then save your videos only when it feels a recoil - the camera is completely self-editing. The Tactacam requires manual controls.
- The ShotKam has a patented reticle alignment system. This enables the camera to be calibrated so that the reticle represents your gun's exact point of aim. Studying the reticle position and movement in your ShotKam video will reveal shooting mistakes such as a canted mount, shooting over/under the target, etc. The Tactacam does not have a reticle.
- About 1,000 G's of force go through the barrel of a shotgun when a shot is fired. The ShotKam's patented shock absorbing mounting bracket is designed to absorb most of that recoil, so the camera only gets 2-3 G's of force. This enables the camera to record clear, undisturbed video. The camera and brackets are designed to withstand hours of continuous, heavy recoil. The Tactacam moves very unsteadily after each recoil.

Video Summary:
The biggest frustration of shotgun shooting is not knowing why you missed. You may hear "you missed in front of it," or "you missed behind it," but the reality is you have no idea. The ShotKam will show you exactly where your barrel was so you can learn why you missed. The average ShotKam user increases their score by 15% within the first month.
With this camera, you'll get a high-definition video of every shot. At the center of each video will be a crosshair to show exactly where you "aimed." Using the crosshair, you can study your move to the target and determine exactly why you missed or how you hit a target.
ShotKam has an internal accelerometer (detects forces) and gyroscope (detects movement), so it can intelligently detect barrel motion and the pull of gravity. This enables the ShotKam to start recording when it feels the action of your gun close, then save your videos only when it feels a recoil - the camera is completely self-editing.
The ShotKam is self-editing meaning that it will record and save each of your shots automatically when it detects the recoil of your gun. Once it saves your video, the ShotKam slows the playback speed to 1/3 to mimic how your brain perceives a moving target. This enhanced playback speed, along with its magnification, will show you exactly how you’re hitting each target. Each video is recorded in Full HD at 100 frames per second so you can pinpoint the exact movements of your muzzle.

How to Order
We exclusively sell through our online websites, there are no physical stores. You can buy a ShotKam from any of our 5 international online stores:
- ShotKam USA - US dollars
- ShotKam Canada - Canadian dollars C$
- ShotKam UK - GBP £
- ShotKam Europe - Euro €
- ShotKam Australia - Australian dollars A$
We've created these websites to improve accessibility for all of our customers, both domestic and international. All international online stores already include all import taxes (GST, HST, VAT), then shipping is calculated at Checkout depending on your country. The ShotKam is assembled, packaged, and fulfilled from our location in Florida, USA and shipped all over the world. (We ship using our international business numbers and tax ID's.) Please read on to determine which ShotKam website is best for completing your purchase.
No shipping available: Brazil, China, Egypt, Lebanon, Mexico, Pakistan, Russia, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Sierra Leone, Turkey, Jamaica, United Arab Emirates, or Ukraine. We cannot ship to those countries, so your order would need to be shipped to a different country instead.
Which website should I order from?
